What is camphor?
Cinnamomum camphora is a species of evergreen tree that is commonly known under the names camphor tree, camphorwood or camphor laurel. Cinnamomum camphora is native to southeast Asia.
The leaves have a glossy, waxy appearance and smell of camphor when crushed. In spring, it produces bright green foliage with masses of small white flowers. Certain trees are considered sacred due to a respective age of 700-years.
Aromatic Description
Familiar yet unfamiliar, white Camphor Essential Oil smells fresh, intense and woody. Its aroma is somewhat eucalyptus-like due to its high cineole content. In Vietnam it is commonly used in various medicinal treatments.
Bringing one to higher grounds
It is available in the form of blocks, tablets, oil, and powder. While Western medicine has not yet researched the benefits of camphor significantly, Indians have been using camphor for centuries, chiefly for religious purposes but also as a remedy to treat ailments.
Camphor for Power
Camphor (Kapur) is burnt during an Arti because it purifies the environment around us. Kapur does not leave any residue after it is fully burnt and is considered to be a symbol of destruction of human ego. It is said that when you burn kapur, you are burning your ego and spreading positivity around. Its strong fragrance also takes away all the negative vibes around you. Camphor does not mess around – when you blend it into a perfume, it makes itself known, it provides a little extra kick.
